Maruti Suzuki is preparing to introduce the facelifted version of its popular premium hatchback, the Baleno, in the Indian market. The Maruti Baleno facelift is expected to launch on September 5, 2026. The updated model is likely to receive several design and feature upgrades over the current second-generation Baleno, which was introduced in 2022.

Maruti Suzuki has not yet revealed all the official details of the facelifted model. However, test prototypes spotted during road testing and recent spy shots have provided some clues about the changes that could be introduced.

Maruti Baleno Facelift: Expected Exterior Changes

The most noticeable updates on the new Baleno are expected at the front.

Spy shots suggest that the facelift could feature a newly designed front grille. A horizontal strip may be added across the centre of the grille, potentially finished in chrome and extending between the two headlamps.

The headlamp design itself is not expected to undergo major changes. The facelifted Baleno could continue with the existing boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights.

The front bumper is also likely to receive a redesigned look. One notable detail from the test cars was the absence of the front fog lamps found on the current Baleno.

Changes to the side profile are expected to remain limited. The most prominent update could be a new alloy wheel design, while the overall silhouette is likely to remain unchanged.

At the rear, Maruti could introduce a redesigned bumper. However, the existing tail-lamp design is expected to continue. Features such as the roof-mounted spoiler and rear wiper are also likely to be retained.

New Features Expected Inside the Baleno Facelift

The basic dashboard layout seen on the Baleno facelift test car appeared similar to the current model.

The updated hatchback is expected to retain the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, along with the trapezoidal AC vents, silver detailing and three-spoke steering wheel.

However, Maruti Suzuki could introduce additional features to make the cabin feel more premium.

The facelifted Baleno could get new seat upholstery, ambient lighting and a single-pane sunroof. Several competitors in the segment already offer these features, and their addition could make the Baleno more appealing to buyers.

Other existing equipment is also expected to continue, including automatic climate control, a six-speaker audio system, electrically adjustable ORVMs and an auto-dimming IRVM.

Petrol and CNG Powertrains Likely to Continue

Major mechanical changes are not expected with the Maruti Baleno facelift. The company is likely to carry forward the existing petrol and CNG powertrain options.

The petrol version is expected to continue with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces around 90hp. It could remain available with both a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

The CNG variant is also expected to retain the existing engine setup. It could produce around 77.5hp and continue to be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission.

By retaining the existing powertrain options, Maruti is likely to focus primarily on improving the Baleno’s styling, features and cabin equipment with this facelift.

Maruti Baleno Facelift: Expected Price

The current Maruti Baleno is priced at around Rs 5.99 lakh to Rs 9.14 lakh (ex-showroom).

Considering the expected design and feature upgrades, the facelifted model could be priced slightly higher than the current version. Maruti Suzuki is expected to announce the official pricing at the time of launch.

The updated Baleno will continue to compete in the premium hatchback segment against rivals such as the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20 and Toyota Glanza.

Maruti Baleno Facelift Launch Date

The Maruti Baleno facelift is expected to launch on September 5, 2026. With this update, Maruti is likely to focus on refreshing the car’s styling and feature package, while major mechanical changes are not expected.

A redesigned grille and bumper, new alloy wheels, a possible sunroof and ambient lighting could make the facelifted Baleno feel more premium than the current model.

As the launch date approaches, Maruti Suzuki is expected to reveal official details regarding the new Baleno’s variants, features, pricing and other specifications.
