Hero MotoCorp has introduced the Flex-Fuel versions of its popular commuter motorcycles, the Splendor+ and HF Deluxe, in the Indian market. The bikes are priced at Rs 82,710 and Rs 72,792 (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively. A key highlight of these motorcycles is their ability to run on ethanol-blended fuels ranging from E20 to E85. Sales will begin in Delhi and selected regions of Maharashtra from July 2026, with a phased rollout planned across the country later.
Flex-Fuel Technology Comes to Hero’s Best-Selling Commuter Bikes
The new Splendor+ Flex Fuel and HF Deluxe Flex Fuel are powered by Hero’s trusted 97.2cc single-cylinder engine, which has been upgraded to support higher ethanol fuel blends. When running on E85 fuel, the engine produces 8.6hp at 8,000rpm and 8.3Nm of torque at 6,000rpm.
To ensure smooth operation and reliability with ethanol-rich fuels, Hero has made several updates to the engine management system. These include a recalibrated ECU, an upgraded fuel pump, and an additional fuel filter.
Boosting Ethanol-Based Mobility
As India continues to promote ethanol usage to reduce dependence on conventional petrol, Hero MotoCorp has brought flex-fuel technology to two of its highest-selling commuter motorcycles.
Interestingly, the HF Deluxe Flex Fuel is priced just Rs 172 higher than the standard E20-compatible model. Meanwhile, buyers opting for the Splendor+ Flex Fuel will pay a premium of Rs 5,153 over the regular version. This move makes flex-fuel technology more accessible to everyday commuters.
Technology Aimed at the Mass Market
According to Hero MotoCorp, the Splendor and HF families account for nearly one out of every three motorcycles on Indian roads. Introducing flex-fuel technology in these mass-market models could play a significant role in accelerating the adoption of alternative fuels across the country.
The company believes the initiative will not only provide consumers with more fuel options but also contribute to India’s broader ethanol adoption goals.
Features and Equipment
Both motorcycles come equipped with several practical features, including:
- Digi-analogue instrument cluster
- Side-stand engine cut-off system
- Tubeless tyres
Additionally, the Splendor+ Flex Fuel features Hero’s i3S (Idle Stop-Start System), which automatically switches the engine off and on during traffic halts to improve fuel efficiency.
Availability
Hero MotoCorp will begin selling the Splendor+ Flex Fuel and HF Deluxe Flex Fuel in Delhi and selected regions of Maharashtra from July 2026. The company plans to gradually expand availability to other markets across India in the coming months.
With the launch of these new models, Hero MotoCorp has taken a major step toward bringing flex-fuel technology into the mainstream commuter motorcycle segment, offering riders a cleaner and more sustainable mobility solution.
