Honda has officially launched the 2026 Honda City in India at a starting price of ₹12 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks the second mid-cycle update for the fifth-generation Honda City, which was originally introduced in 2020. Following the previous update in 2023, the sedan now receives a refreshed exterior design and several new features, while its engine lineup remains unchanged.
The updated Honda City continues to maintain its identity as one of India’s longest-running and most popular sedan models.
Available in Four Variants
The new Honda City is offered in SV, V, ZX, and ZX+ variants. Buyers can choose from 1.5-litre petrol manual, CVT automatic, and strong-hybrid e:HEV powertrain options. The hybrid version remains exclusive to the top-end ZX+ trim.
While the starting price remains unchanged, prices of higher variants have increased. The ZX+ petrol CVT is now ₹1.08 lakh more expensive, while the City e:HEV hybrid has received a ₹1 lakh price hike.
Major Updates to Exterior Design
The 2026 Honda City gets a redesigned front fascia. The sedan now features more stylish slim LED headlamps with a new dual-part DRL signature and a honeycomb-pattern grille. According to Honda, the updated lighting setup offers improved visibility with wider and better light spread.
The front bumper has also been redesigned with a larger air intake and sharper styling elements. On the side profile, the most noticeable change is the addition of new dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels, while the rear receives a refreshed two-tone bumper and a body-colored faux diffuser.
Honda has also introduced a new Crystal Black Pearl exterior shade. Existing color options including Radiant Red, Obsidian Blue, Meteoroid Grey, Lunar Silver, and Platinum White continue to be available.
New Features Added Inside the Cabin
The cabin layout largely remains familiar, but Honda has now equipped the sedan with a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The dual-tone interior theme and physical control buttons remain unchanged.
New feature additions include:
- 360-degree camera
- Front ventilated seats
- Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Wireless charging
- Ambient lighting
- Connected car technology
- Sunroof
- Electric parking brake
- Rear sunblind
- 8-speaker audio system
The sedan also retains Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, hill-start assist, rain-sensing wipers, and Honda’s Lane Watch camera system.
No Changes Under the Hood
Mechanically, the 2026 Honda City remains unchanged. It continues with the familiar 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 121hp and 145Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-step CVT transmission.
The 1.5-litre strong-hybrid e:HEV setup also continues unchanged, generating 126hp and 253Nm of torque. Honda claims a fuel efficiency figure of 27.26kmpl for the hybrid model and is now offering a 5-year warranty on hybrid components.
The new Honda City will continue competing in the midsize sedan segment against rivals like the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia, and Volkswagen Virtus.
