Audi has officially confirmed the launch of its all-new RS 5 for the Indian market. This high-performance sedan was unveiled globally in February 2026 in Avant (wagon) and Saloon (liftback) body styles. However, Indian buyers will receive only the sedan version, which will be brought in as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). While Audi has not yet announced an official launch date, the removal of the previous S5 Sportback from Audi India’s website strongly hints that its arrival is just around the corner.

Audi RS 5 Powertrain: Brand’s First-Ever Hybrid RS Model

The new Audi RS 5 marks a major milestone for the company as it becomes the brand’s first hybrid-powered RS model. Under the hood is a 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine producing 510hp and 600Nm of torque. It is paired with a plug-in hybrid system that adds another 177hp and 460Nm.

Together, the setup delivers a massive 639hp and 825Nm, making it one of the most powerful performance sedans Audi has ever produced. Power is sent through an 8-speed torque-converter automatic transmission along with a limited-slip centre differential, which intelligently distributes torque depending on driving conditions.

Audi claims the RS 5 can sprint from 0–100kph in just 3.6 seconds, placing it firmly in supercar territory.

The electric system is powered by a 25.9kWh battery pack, offering an electric-only range of over 80km. According to Audi, an 11kW charger can fully charge the battery in approximately 2.5 hours.

Aggressive Styling and Sportier Design

The new RS 5 follows Audi’s signature RS design language with a more muscular and aggressive appearance. Up front, it features a large honeycomb grille, sporty air intakes, and Matrix LED headlights with a distinctive chequered-flag-inspired DRL signature.

Compared to the standard A5, Audi has widened the RS 5 by 4cm on both sides, giving it a stronger road presence. Standard equipment includes 20-inch alloy wheels, wider wheel arches, and large RS steel brake discs.

Certain international variants also offer 21-inch wheels and more powerful carbon-ceramic brakes as optional upgrades.

At the rear, the sedan features a fastback-style roofline, connected OLED taillights, a gloss-black diffuser, and large oval exhaust outlets. Audi says the newly developed RS exhaust system delivers different sound characteristics based on the selected driving mode.

High-Tech Cabin with Triple-Screen Setup

The interior of the RS 5 has been designed to deliver a premium and technology-focused experience. It comes standard with a triple-screen setup, including:

  • 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster
  • 14.5-inch OLED infotainment display
  • 10.9-inch front passenger screen

Instead of moving entirely to touch-based controls, Audi has retained physical buttons and scrollers on the steering wheel. The car also gets dedicated RS drive mode controls and a Boost Mode button that delivers maximum acceleration for up to 10 seconds.

The cabin gets an all-black sporty theme with red accents, ambient lighting, and premium materials such as Dinamica suede and Nappa leather.

International-spec models are equipped with heated power-adjustable bucket seats with massage functionality, while seat ventilation and a sunroof are offered as optional features.

Expected India Launch and Price

Audi is expected to launch the new RS 5 in India sometime in 2026. Since it will arrive as a CBU import, the expected price is likely to be around Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom).

The new RS 5 will sit significantly above the outgoing S5 Sportback, which had a last recorded ex-showroom price of Rs 73.57 lakh.
