Ahead of its May 28 launch, Tata has finally unveiled the facelifted Tiago. The updated hatchback comes with several design revisions and feature additions. While Tata has retained the car’s core identity, there are noticeable changes in terms of exterior styling and technology. Here’s a closer look at the differences between the new Tata Tiago facelift and the outgoing model.
Tata Tiago New vs Old: Exterior Design
More Attractive Front Look with New Lighting Setup
The new Tata Tiago now gets slimmer LED headlights paired with eyebrow-style LED daytime running lights (DRLs), giving the hatchback a more premium and modern appearance than before. Tata has also redesigned the front grille with a cleaner look, while the chrome strip that previously connected the headlights has now been removed.
The front bumper has been completely redesigned and no longer features the silver accents seen on the previous model. Additionally, larger halogen fog lamps have been replaced with pixel-style LED fog lights. The reveal video also shows camera modules on the bumper and ORVMs, hinting at the possible addition of a new 360-degree camera feature.
New Alloy Wheels and Minor Side Profile Updates
From the side, the Tiago facelift largely looks similar to the outgoing version, but it now gets newly designed 15-inch alloy wheels and black wheel arches.
Interestingly, these black wheel arches were previously available only on the Tiago NRG variant. This has led to speculation that Tata could discontinue the NRG variant after the facelift launch.
Other elements such as body-colored door handles, chrome inserts, and the blacked-out B-pillar remain unchanged.
Connected LED Taillights Transform the Rear Look
The rear section receives one of the biggest updates in the new Tiago. It now features connected LED taillights with three vertical LED elements on both sides joined by a light bar running across the center.
In addition, the Tiago badge has been shifted to the lower section of the tailgate, while the camera module has been moved to the bumper. The reverse light has also been repositioned lower on the bumper. Tata has also made slight design changes to the rear bumper.
Tata Tiago New vs Old: Interior Changes
Updated Cabin with a New Display
Although Tata has not fully revealed the cabin yet, the teaser showcases lighter seat upholstery and a free-standing digital driver’s display. Since Tata had already introduced major cabin updates with the MY25 update, significant interior revisions are unlikely in the facelift version.
The new Tiago is expected to continue offering features such as:
- Two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated Tata logo
- 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Existing AC control layout
One of the biggest expected updates could be the addition of six airbags, replacing the older model’s two-airbag setup. Tata may also reintroduce the two tweeters removed during the MY25 update, which could enhance the audio experience.
Tata Tiago New vs Old: Engine and Transmission
No major mechanical changes are expected in the new Tiago facelift. The existing powertrain lineup is likely to continue:
- 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 86hp
- CNG variant producing 75.5hp
- 5-speed manual gearbox
- 5-speed AMT option
Expected Price and Rivals
The Tata Tiago facelift is expected to be priced slightly higher than the outgoing model, which is currently priced between ₹4.60 lakh and ₹7.68 lakh (ex-showroom).
Once launched, the new Tiago will continue competing with rivals such as the Maruti Celerio, Maruti Wagon R and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios.
